City Bus Simulator 2010 New York is worth getting. I've got it and it's quite good, it has an incab view, open & shutting doors yourself, disabled ramp, ability to leave your bus, campaign mode where they assign you routes, tutorial mode so you can get used to it, alot of controls including interior lights, driver lights. You also have to give your tickets to the passengers as they get on, they say "1 please" and then you press a key and give them their ticket.

Re: New Bus!

Postby watchtalker » Mon Dec 21, 2009 12:38 pm

I have converted a new bus to Bus Driver from a game called Alarm Fur Cobra Crash Time made by a German developer Synetic. You may find this suprising but their entire series of Alarm fur Cobra games supports trailers, and actually simulates the handling of a truck better than ETS or 18WOS!
Not really sure what the make and model is, but is says Hurt on the front. In fact, any vehicle from 18WOS games can be used in Bus Driver, the only downside is that you cannot simply drop stuff in the mod folder, you have to actually edit base.scs. Instructions are included, but I don't recommend trying to add this to Bus Driver if you don't know what you are doing, becuase you could end up breaking the game.

I may end up releasing this soon, just trying to work out how to make the numbers show up on the back properly.

Credits:
Synetic (www.synetic.de) for the mesh and some textures
Skin and conversion by me
This replaces the Remark 1.

Nice model Watchtalker! Looks really good! It's a pity there is no way to ferry passengers in ETS as there are a lot of good bus and coach models about and it isn't much fun just driving around!

Do we not remember Slamausers Bus Mod for Haulin' ? He used Passengers like a trailer hook up, and then all got seated at the touch of a button. Using the brace on/brace off feature.

That works in ETS as a concept, but when you try to implement it, it really doesn't work that well, and believe me, I've tried!

Thanks for the kind comments crockett. I will make a tutorial soon and release this, so watch this space! I also converted my Travego coach to replace the sista? If you send me link to places you can get buses for ETS or other 18WOS games, I will have a shot at converting those too, cos some of the screenshots I have seen look really nice!

I am working on more, like the Travego coach, and a double decker from MM2. However, I can't figure out how to get the numbers to show up on the back, instead of the x or the smiley. Anyone interested in figuring this out?

Well I decided to release what I've done so far. In this pack there is a city bus converted from AFC Highway Nights by Synetic. It will replace the generic 1 and generic2. In order to add it to your game:

INFO:
DO NOT RELEASE THIS ON ANOTHER SITE WITHOUT ASKING ME!
Original mesh from Alarm Fur Cobra Highway Nights. Skin by me. Converted by me, sorry the numbers don't show up, but I don't know how to get them to, maybe something to do with looks, so you just get a smiley face for now!

CREDITS:
Conversion: watchtalker (me)
Skin: watchtalker (me)
Model,Mesh: Synetic

BUGS:
No door animation
Number ain't shown on the back.

You will need:
An archive program, this tutorial uses 7-zip (free from www.7-zip.org)
The addon bus (download link @ bottom of post)
About 5 mins

MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF BASE.SCS BEFORE YOU DO THIS OR YOU MAY BREAK YOUR GAME!!!!!

Go to Bus Driver install directory, and extract base.scs

Extract the archive containing the new buses (download below) in a temporary directory.
Copy 'stadtbus' directory to vehicle/driveable/

Copy generic1.sii, generic2.sii to the same directory

Now go back to the directory you extracted base.scs to. Select all of the directories and add them to a zip archive with no compression (as you would do when creating an scs file for ETS).

Rename the new archive base.scs, and overwrite base.scs in the Bus Driver install directory with the one you just created.

Run the game, and if all went well, you should have the generic buses replaced!

Problems/Questions/Comments just post here ;)

Thats an interesting problem! Since this is Bus Driver Gold, I'm guessing, but the things that cause this problem in the new SCS games like UKTS and GTS are mipmaps. You can either add the mipmaps yourself in a graphics program, or wait a week till I get home (on hols atm) and I will fix them myself.
